Houston welcomed its first New Leaders Council (NLC) Fellows in January 2015. NLC continues to expand to cities across the nation and Houston is the first chapter in Texas.
The vision to bring NLC to the Lone Star State was realized in 2014. The advisory board, which is comprised of professionals spanning multiple industries, spent countless hours preparing to welcome its first class of Fellows in 2015.
From hosting events to educate the community on NLC, its mission and impact to attending NLC meetings with established chapters across the nation, 2014 was a productive year for the Houston board. The hard work and dedication to strengthening the NLC mission to, “recruit, train and promote the next generation of progressive leaders” was met with an overwhelmingly positive response.
We set an aggressive recruiting goal, which was exceeded with ease. The selection process was competitive, as every applicant offered something valuable to the organization.
Twenty-one individuals were invited to join the inaugural class of Fellows. Every invitation was accepted and our first Institute was held January 24 -25.
We are excited to continue planting roots in Texas, while also developing the next generation of progressive leaders. Our commitment to this meaningful movement, which will shape our state’s business and civic landscape, is without equal. Stay tuned as NLC Houston establishes its pivotal stronghold in the Lone Star State.
